Hiding default modules allows you to customize your client portal by hiding certain modules from view.

This feature is perfect for tailoring the portal experience to your clients’ specific needs or simplifying the interface by removing unused modules. It was also a highly requested feature on our feedback board.

If you have feedback on how this feature works please let us know by adding a comment here.

Here's how it works and what you need to know.

What Happens When You Disable a Module?

Disabling a module will...

  1. Hide the link from the portal navigation

    • The disabled module’s link will no longer appear in the sidebar or top navigation menu.

  2. Remove the widget from the client dashboard

    • The module’s widget or section will also be hidden on your client’s dashboard view.

However, disabling a module does NOT completely turn off its functionality. While it will no longer appear visually, any associated actions or pre-existing links will remain active and functional.

For example...

  • Tasks

    • If you have tasks with reminders set, the reminders will still be sent out even if the Tasks module is hidden.

    • Comments and tags in the task section will still notify the relevant team members or clients as usual.

  • Files

    • Any shared file links will still be accessible to clients or team members with the appropriate permissions.

  • Service Showcase

    • Any services currently published will still appear in links shared previously.

Modules You Can Disable

You can disable the following modules:

  • Tasks

  • Service Showcase

  • Files

Note: The Requests tab is not a module you can disable directly. However, this tab will not appear in the portal unless a request has been published for a specific account.

How to Disable a Module

  1. Navigate to the Settings Area

    • Go to the Company Settings page in Sydnee.

  2. Find the Modules Section

    • In this section you will find toggles for each module.

  3. Toggle the Module Visibility

    • Use the toggles to disable (hide) or enable (show) the modules as needed.

  4. Save Your Changes

    • Be sure to save your settings to apply the changes to your portal.

Important Considerations

  • Outstanding Actions

    • Hiding a module does not prevent reminders, alerts, or previously shared links from functioning. For example:

      • Task reminders will continue to send as scheduled.

      • Alerts for comments and tags will still notify the tagged person.

  • Client Impact

    • Clients won’t see hidden modules in their navigation or dashboard, but they can still interact with any links or actions you’ve shared with them previously.

  • Flexibility

    • You can re-enable a module at any time if you need to restore visibility for your portal users.

FAQs

Q: Will hiding the Files module prevent clients from accessing files I’ve already shared?
A: No. Any previously shared files will remain accessible through their unique links or email notifications.

Q: Can I completely turn off notifications for a disabled module?
A: Not at this time. Disabling a module only hides it from view; notifications, reminders, and other background processes will still function as normal. Keep in mind, if you do not use the module then there will not be any notifications from it.

Q: How can I remove the Requests tab from the portal?
A: The Requests tab will only appear if a request has been published for a specific account. If no requests are published, the tab will not show up. To remove it, delete the requests associated with that account.
