Note: File History is a Team-only feature. Portal users (clients) cannot see the history or audit logs of any file.

Sydnee automatically tracks every interaction with your documents. From the moment a file is uploaded to every time it's shared, viewed, or moved, you have a timestamped record of who did what.

Accessing the history panel

  1. Click on any file to open the preview.

  2. In the right-hand panel, click History.

  3. You will see a chronological timeline of all activity for that specific file.

What actions are tracked?

Sydnee logs a wide range of activities to ensure you always know the status of your documents:

  • Uploads: When the original file or any new version was added.

  • Views & Downloads: Every time a team member or a client previews or downloads the file.

  • Modifications: Renaming the file, moving it between folders, or starring/favoriting it.

Each entry shows the Actor (who did it), the Action, and a Timestamp.

Filtering and exporting history

Filtering by Actor

If a file has a lot of activity, use the filters at the top of the timeline to narrow things down:

  • All: Shows everything.

  • Team: Shows only internal staff activity.

  • Clients: Shows only actions taken by your clients (ideal for confirming if a client has viewed a deliverable).

Exporting to CSV

For compliance reporting or internal reviews, you can download the entire history of a version group.

  • Click the Export or Download History button (if available) within the panel to generate a CSV file containing the full audit trail.
