What “Duplicate Account” does

Duplicating a portal creates a new account that:

  • Keeps branding and account-level settings

  • Copies only the modules you select

  • Lets you reuse structure (tasks, files, pages, etc.) without affecting the original

This is useful for:

  • Reusing a proven client setup

  • Creating templates

  • Spinning up similar client portals quickly

How to duplicate a portal

  1. Go to the Accounts page

  2. Click the three dots (•••) on the account you want to copy

  3. Click “Duplicate Account”

  4. Configure your duplication settings

  5. Click “Duplicate account”

Duplication settings explained

1. New Account Name

  • Defaults to: Copy of [Original Name]

  • You can rename this before creating the duplicate

2. Modules to Copy

You can choose exactly what gets carried over:

Dashboard

Copies memo pad content and widget layout

Files

Copies files, folders, and folder access rules

Tasks

Copies:

  • Tasks and subtasks

  • Sections

  • Collaborators

  • Reminders

  • Attachments

Service Showcase

Copies:

  • Service status

  • Detail values

  • Ordering

  • Assignee overrides

Custom Pages (Embeds)

  • Copies:

    • Embedded content

    • Page structure and ordering

Team Members

  • Copies:

    • Internal team access

    • Notification settings

Portal Members

Brings over all clients with external access. If you do this, next time they log in they will be asked to choose between which account they would like to be in.

Important behavior

  • The duplicate is fully separate from the original

→ Changes do not sync between them

  • You can create a partial duplicate

→ Only select the modules you want

  • Permissions and access rules are preserved within copied modules

When to use duplication vs starting fresh

Use duplication when:

  • You have a repeatable workflow

  • You want consistent structure across clients

  • You need speed

Start fresh when:

  • The new portal is significantly different

  • You don’t want any inherited structure or data

Beta notes

This feature is currently in beta.

  • Behavior is actively monitored

  • Edge cases may exist with complex data setups. We are collecting error diagnostics, so if you encounter one we have been alerted already.

Troubleshooting

Duplicate missing data?

  • Confirm the module was selected before duplicating

Members not appearing as expected?

  • Check whether they were included under:

    • Team Members

    • Portal Members

Unexpected structure?

  • Some modules (like Tasks or Files) bring nested data (sections, folders, etc.)

See something really wrong? Please let us know!! We will investigate and fix.
