Setting due dates and times for tasks

Written by Connor Bearse
Updated this week

You can assign flexible due dates to tasks using due dates, times, and optional start ranges.

Due date

  • You can set a due date on any task

  • This represents when the task is expected to be completed

Adding a due time

  • You can optionally add a due time

  • This makes the task time-specific instead of all-day

Start date and time (optional)

You can also define when work should begin:

  • Start date (optional) β€” when the task begins

  • Start time (optional) β€” when work begins on that day

Valid combinations

Sydnee supports flexible date ranges, with one constraint:

Allowed:

  • Due date only

  • Due date + due time

  • Start date β†’ due date

  • Start date β†’ due date + due time

  • Start date + due date (no times)

  • Start date + due date + due time (no start time)

Not allowed:

  • Start time without a due time

This ensures all time-based tasks have a clear end point.

Time zones

  • All tasks are created in your local time zone (set your time zone in your profile)

  • Dates and times are automatically normalized for each user viewing the task

  • Each user sees the task in their own local time

Repeating tasks

You can set a task to repeat on a schedule (e.g., weekly).

  • Select a repeat frequency (e.g., weekly)

  • Choose specific days (if applicable)

  • The calendar will preview upcoming occurrences using highlighted dates

Notes

  • If no time is set, the task is treated as an all-day item

  • Repeating previews help confirm scheduling before saving

  • Time zone handling ensures consistency across distributed teams
